Recently, our family was blessed with a rare treat: Disney on Ice. With six kids, outings like this are a big deal, and the excitement was palpable the moment we walked through the doors.
As we got settled, my husband reminded the kids (and me) that we weren’t there for a shopping spree—just popcorn and drinks. But true to form, he went above and beyond. Giant cups of lemonade, cotton candy on sticks, and even bonus Stitch hats appeared in our hands. And then, with a sparkle in his eyes, he asked, “Do you need a Stitch hat too?”
I laughed and said, “No, I need a tiara.”
Moments later, he returned with a purple, LED-lit tiara, gently placed it on my head, and kissed me. No snark, no irony—just love. Just choosing to delight in me as I am. The princess behavior that someone had recently made fun of me for? That’s 1000% his doing.

Watching my kids, perched excitedly between us in our long row, I felt overwhelmed by gratitude—for the laughter, the memories, and the love that surrounds us every day. And it reminded me: God delights in us in the same way.
Zephaniah 3:17 says:
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
Even when life feels chaotic—or when someone teases us for being “princess-y”—God sees us, loves us as we are, and delights in us. Sometimes, His love shows up in grand gestures; sometimes, it’s the quiet, everyday moments: a kind word, a warm hug, or a fun family outing that leaves our hearts full.
Psalm 127:3 reminds us:
“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”
And as I watched our kids’ eyes light up with wonder—and felt my husband’s love in such a playful, real way—I was reminded that joy is a gift. That love is meant to be celebrated, and laughter is holy.
Sometimes, God gives us tiaras, cotton candy, and little reminders that life is meant to be savored—and that we are deeply, delightfully loved.
